Contact Buzz – Contact Buzz (Theme)

Hello people! Another little gap I thought I'd fill with one of my own tracks. I love a good theme song and I thought Contact Buzz was destined to have one. My favourite name for a song is probably Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden off the album Iron Maiden, or Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath from the album (You guessed it)... Black Sabbath. Creativity like that just isn't explored these days. So here’s Contact Buzz by Contact Buzz. If I ever do an album, you know what it's called.

I recruited my very good friend Matthew. You may know him from Crash Records, you may know him from Content Nausea or you might know him from his band, Mince. They’re pretty shit though, don’t give them a listen. It's the first time I've walked into the studio to record a contact buzz session on my own music, as ‘Sinking Feeling’ I recorded to test how my first 4-track worked - not really a contact buzz session. Matthew is not only a fantastic drummer, but a very capable bass player, so I gave him control over the rhythm section.

First it was drums - the cornerstone of the tune. I was really happy with the sound of them. When you know exactly what you want from a drum kit, it's much easier to dial it in - a lesson I'll learn for future sessions. And it’s one take from Matthew of course, there are only two different drum beats in this song. Then a meaty bass tone that does end up taking the space of the rhythm guitar a bit, it's just so powerful, but who cares? It's about the song at the end of the day, not the rhythm guitar that's too chicken shit to stand over the bass.

Yeah the rhythm is fine it just sort of enhances what the bass already did i guess? That was me, but the lead? Mwah! Really happy with the tone I got, pure power pop, pure jangle pop, remember when it was all about pop? I love a freak of a character, you only really get to see the freak at the end of the chorus, the rest I thought was funny to basically make an ad for contact buzz in the song. The ‘oooo’s are questionable and when I recorded it I didn't realise that I left a pretty heavy chorus on the vocals, so that's there forever now.

I like it, I can't lie, I'd listen to this if it wasn't my own song. If we ever do a web series, this will be the theme music.
