No Sale – Policy
You may recognise a few of these guys from our Hitlist session a couple of months ago, but this isn’t the same band. This is No Sale - Heather is replaced with Ewan, who comes in on bass, Jake moves to guitar and vocals, Maddy dropping back to just guitar and Henrik hitting the drums as always! Energy is something they still carry over from Hitlist, but with more of their 90s inspirations coming to the forefront.
Henrik wanted to document this process for one of his assignments so we got right to analysing how we wanted the drums to sound… right after we documented him climbing into the advertisement board outside of Eiger. I wanted to show them how much Contact Buzz has come on since they took a chance on me in the early days (August). The drums and bass fell in beautifully, the strength of the rhythm section was so important for this recording. The guitars almost become a supporting role, but bite nonetheless.
Then came the vocals, which Jake had been worrying about all day because of a bad cold he had. We did have to postpone the vocal take for a couple of weeks, but when we got back in the studio, it was one take. For someone who hadn’t sung in a studio setting before, he gave quite the performance.
